Video of four violent wedge tornadoes from different supercells in eastern Mississippi into Alabama, including the EF-5 that occurred near Philadelphia, Mississippi, as well as the birth of the Tuscaloosa tornado. Sadly, this tornado outbreak over “Dixie Alley” was responsible for substantial loss of life and property across MS, AL, GA, as violent Tornadoes struck Tuscaloosa, Birmingham, and other populated areas. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the victims of this tragedy.

Storm Chaser/photographer Chad Cowan captured these exciting nighttime scenes during the month of June, first near Murdo, SD on June 2 as an approaching supercell developed over the Badlands. A week later near a Sabetha, KS, wind farm, Chad overcame a swarm of lightning bugs to catch a severe storm as it drifted away at twilight.

A montage of photos from the flooding here in Queensland, Australia. I’m about an hour from some of these photos in Brisbane and 2 hours from the others where the flood waters are currently still rising.
People are rushing around everywhere trying to evacuate themselves, their families and their pets. Today on FaceBook there were dozens of requests from people asking for help to save their horses and other animals and move them to higher ground. People were offering accommodations on twitter, everyone has pulled together during this devastating time. Many did not make it out in time.

Storm Chasers Jeff Piotrowski and Kathryn Piotrowski tracked the Joplin Tornado through the city of Joplin, MO. This is just a small sampling of the video that was shot during this severe weather event. Jeff and Kathryn were first on the scene of the Tornado‘s destructive path and stopped to help pull persons out of the rubble. Also Jeff Facebooked and Tweeted sending out pleas for help. Tragic, this tornado will go down in the history books.
