Rising floods threaten central Bangkok
Posted by admin on May 11, 2012
Floodwaters in Thailand are creeping closer to the heart of Bangkok, with authorities warning millions to leave their homes in six city districts including areas just north of the city centre.
City officials said on Sunday that residents in the six districts faced “potential dangers to lives and properties” and urged them to move to emergency shelters.
Al Jazeera’s Wayne Hay reports from Bangkok.

Australia Flooding After Record Rains
Posted by admin on May 7, 2012
Many areas of New South Wales and Victoria, Australia flooded on Thursday following several days of heavy rains. The areas experienced the heaviest rainfall in decades, and dams are full to bursting.
New South Wales local media said that about three quarters of the state is either threatened by imminent flooding or already underwater. State Emergency Service volunteers are warning many residents to stock up on supplies or evacuate their homes.
In Sydney, the Warragamba Dam is nearing its maximum capacity for the first time in 14 years. Officials are planning to release the water late Thursday in order to prevent damage.
“We need to release that water to protect the structural integrity of the dam,” the Sydney Catchment Authority’s Ian Tanner told reporters.
However, spilling the dam will put parts of western Sydney under flood watch.
In Leviticus and Deuteronomy, God promises that when we obey Him, He will provide rain in due season when and where it is needed. The flooding underway in Australia is not random and senseless; it is yet another sign of mankind’s persistent refusal to obey God’s law.

Picton Floods – Febuary 2012.
Posted by admin on May 2, 2012
Flash flooding impacted Picton on the 10th of February 2012. Several shops were flooded and the main street of town was closed. Local roads suffered damage due to flood water, a causeway collapsed and many homes were affected by flood waters. It all happened within the space of an hour.
Pumping out the water was made possible due to the water coming from run off, rather than the creek level rising. We were able to remove the water from the streets and shops and pump into the creek, until the storm water drains were cleared.
Fire and Rescue NSW attended with RP421, P248, P93, P87 and the Duty Commander.
Apologies for the shaky cam – it wasn’t attached to anything, didn’t plan on having it with me.
