Storm Chasers Season 5 episode 1 (Dixie Alley Outbreak)
Dixie Alley Outbreak
April 27th, 2011 will go down as the deadliest Tornado day in well over half a century. Hundreds of twisters are touching down all over parts of Mississippi and Alabama known to chasers as “Dixie Alley”. There are multiple confirmed EF-5 tornadoes, the most powerful classification. Teams Dominator, TWISTEX and TIV are all in Dixie Alley and on the hunt, with front row seats to some of the day’s most breathtaking storms. Acting as storm spotters, they’re reporting the tornadoes and attempting to get warnings out. But when a violent twister tracks toward the heart of Tuscaloosa, Alabama, all three teams are faced with death and destruction on an unimaginable scale.

Multiple close-range tornadoes in Oklahoma! April 14, 2012

On April 14, 2012, Storm Chasers Dave Demko and Heidi Farrar documented multiple tornadoes in northern Oklahoma, near the towns of Cherokee and Manchester, including two simultaneous tornadoes from close range (click here for more video from the violent “drillbit” tornado found in this sequence http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bYT1DZ7udkg — EXTREME wind velocities–likely well into the range associated with EF-5 damage–were responsible for the dramatic audible roar as the tornado moved within 100 yards of them). This same storm continued northeast into Kansas and produced several damaging Tornadoes after dark, notably in south Wichita and at McConnel Air Force Base in Andover.

Storm Chaser/photographer Chad Cowan captured these exciting nighttime scenes during the month of June, first near Murdo, SD on June 2 as an approaching supercell developed over the Badlands. A week later near a Sabetha, KS, wind farm, Chad overcame a swarm of lightning bugs to catch a severe storm as it drifted away at twilight.

1/22/2012 – De Witt, AR Tornado
Posted by admin on Jan 26, 2012
Texas Storm Chasers’ Connor McCrorey chased the beginning of a difficult and deadly Tornado outbreak. While the majority of this event will be remembered for the Alabama tornadoes, the event actually began further west in Arkansas. Discrete supercells didn’t fire until 6 PM, well after sunset, across Central and Southern Arkansas. It wasn’t until around 7 PM when Connor approached a tornado-warned supercell. Around the time the cell approached De Witt, the mesocyclone intensified and a fairly sizable tornado was produced. Because of the difficult chase conditions (night time and hills/trees of Arkansas), getting good video was difficult.
This may not be your classic, up close tornado footage, but this does show what it’s really like to chase storms in Dixie Alley and why it can be so dangerous. Since the tornado was only being illuminated by power flashes, this video contains several slow-motion scenes to make it easier to identify the tornado.

Shocking amateur footage heavy floods in Genoa Genova Genua Italy !!!!! 6 dead !!

Shocking amateur footage heavy floods in Genoa Genova Genua Italy !!!!! Television footage showed cars floating and people wading knee-deep through flooded streets in Genoa, the largest city on the northwestern coast.
One woman was reportedly crushed by cars being swept away by the water in Genoa.
Authorities described the situation as “extremely serious” and urged people to be careful.
“Don’t leave your house, move to higher floors, close shops and don’t get in your car for any reason,” Genoa’s town hall warned on its website during the height of the flooding.
Emergency services said at least six people, including several children, were killed in the Floods.
Last week the government declared a state of emergency in the northwestern Liguria region and Tuscany after storms lashed the coastal regions, killing at least 10 people and causing widespread flooding and mudslides.
That flooding brought down bridges and houses. Widespread flooding and mudslides in villages in the picturesque Cinque Terre area cut electricity and blocked roads and railways.
People in some of the towns were evacuated by sea.
The government allocated nearly $100 million in aid for the area.
