Dixie Alley Outbreak

April 27th, 2011 will go down as the deadliest Tornado day in well over half a century. Hundreds of twisters are touching down all over parts of Mississippi and Alabama known to chasers as “Dixie Alley”. There are multiple confirmed EF-5 tornadoes, the most powerful classification. Teams Dominator, TWISTEX and TIV are all in Dixie Alley and on the hunt, with front row seats to some of the day’s most breathtaking storms. Acting as storm spotters, they’re reporting the tornadoes and attempting to get warnings out. But when a violent twister tracks toward the heart of Tuscaloosa, Alabama, all three teams are faced with death and destruction on an unimaginable scale.

About ”Tsunami (Japan)”
The morning after Japan was struck by the most powerful earthquake to hit the island nation in recorded history and the tsunami it unleashed — and even as the earth continued to twitch with aftershocks — the disaster’s massive impact was only beginning to be revealed.

Rescue efforts began with the first light as military helicopters plucked survivors from roofs and carried them to safety.

The 8.9-magnitude temblor, which was centered near the east coast of Japan, killed hundreds of people, caused the formation of 30-foot walls of water that swept across rice fields, engulfed entire towns, dragged houses onto highways, and tossed cars and boats like toys. Some waves reached six miles (10 kilometers) inland in Miyagi Prefecture on Japan’s east coast.

Hurricane Katrina Historic Storm Surge Video – Gulfport, Mississippi

Posted by admin on May 15, 2012

hurricanehttp://www.UltimateChase.com
Exclusive video shot by Mike Theiss from ground zero of Hurricane Katrina’s historic 28 foot storm surge that ripped through Gulfport, Mississippi on August 29th, 2005. This video has a time stamp to give a complete and accurate timeline from the Holiday Inn beachfront hotel located directly on the beach in Gulfport. Also, included are shots from the Theiss-Device which is a camera housing designed by Mike to be placed in a place that would be too dangerous from any human to survive. This 13 minute video will give you a sense of just how bad Katrina was on the Gulf Coast without actually putting you in harms way !!!

To see the entire version of this video about 2 hours in duration please purchase the DVD “Battle at the Beachfront”. http://www.BattleAtTheBeachfront.com

Jim Reed and Mike Theiss hope this documentation helps enforce a sense of storm awareness and a respect for the power of mother nature. When local officials ask you to evacuate just think of this video and ask yourself do you want to risk being put in a situation like this ?

Hurricane Katrina Part Two

Posted by admin on May 11, 2012

hurricanehttp://www.Hurricanetrack.com/posters/dvd2005.html
This is the second part of the three part series of my Katrina documentary. This comes from my successful “Tracking the Hurricanes: 2005″ DVD which chronicles the landfalling U.S. hurricanes during the historic 2005 hurricane season.

In part two, the action really begins. It is now daytime on August 29, 2005 and Katrina is making landfall along the central Gulf Coast. I am in Gulfport, Mississippi working with colleague Mike Watkins. We are seeking refuge at a hotel near I-10 along hwy 49 in Gulfport. We have set up three remotely operated cameras down along the waterfront and are hoping to capture extraordinary video- as well as stream it live to the world. Little did we know that the storm surge would be so enormous that our three camera systems would be washed away- two of them lost forever. The third was found but human error prevented it from working properly. I shift my focus from finding the other missing “black boxes” to documenting the people of a hurricane-torn Mississippi. Part three will sum things up with a trip back to Mississippi 47 days after Katrina.

Multiple close-range tornadoes in Oklahoma! April 14, 2012

Posted by admin on May 1, 2012

tornadoOn April 14, 2012, Storm Chasers Dave Demko and Heidi Farrar documented multiple tornadoes in northern Oklahoma, near the towns of Cherokee and Manchester, including two simultaneous tornadoes from close range (click here for more video from the violent “drillbit” tornado found in this sequence http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bYT1DZ7udkg — EXTREME wind velocities–likely well into the range associated with EF-5 damage–were responsible for the dramatic audible roar as the tornado moved within 100 yards of them). This same storm continued northeast into Kansas and produced several damaging Tornadoes after dark, notably in south Wichita and at McConnel Air Force Base in Andover.
