- Best Friends (www.BestFriends.org) Amid reports that some families boarding evacuation buses are not being allowed to take their pets aboard unless they are in proper pet carriers, Best Friends Animal Society will rush 3,000 of the carriers to Terrebone, Jefferson and St. Bernard parishes in New Orleans as Hurricane Gustav bears down on the city.
- Humane Society of the United States (Emergency Services Animal Rescue Team) Gulf residents pack up pets and flee an approaching Hurricane Gustav while The HSUS evacuates animals from Louisiana shelters.
- Noah's Wish (www.NoahsWish.info) Noah's Wish volunteers from throughout the US and Canada have been traveling to Louisiana over the weekend. They are working with local authorities to staff three shelters set up to house and care for animals evacuated from Gulf Coast areas threatened by Hurricane Gustav.
- Pasado Rescue Disaster Response (www.PasadoSafeHaven.org) opened largest triage center for Gustav. Hundreds of shelter animals in their care; 600 Acre farm generously provided for rescue.
